FUKUI (TR) – Fukui Prefectural Police on Saturday arrested a 27-year-old man from Aichi Prefecture for allegedly kidnapping a teenage girl he met online and bringing her to his residence, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (Dec. 17).

On November 30, Yuichi Torii, a resident of Okazaki City, Aichi, allegedly abducted the middle school student, 14, and brought her to his residence while knowing she was a minor.

The girl was not injured in the incident, according to the Sabae Police Station.

Police believe that the suspect became acquainted with the girl through a social-networking service.

On the same day that she was abducted, a family member contacted police. An examination of security camera footage taken in Fukui showed Torii with the girl, police said.

Early Saturday morning, the suspect was apprehended after he was found with the girl in front of his residence.
