HOKKAIDO (TR) – A dashboard camera mounted inside a taxi in Abashiri City captured footage of an elderly passenger attacking the driver on Friday, reports Fuji News Network (Dec. 17).

At 7:35 p.m., Yoshiro Yamaya, 78, allegedly grabbed the driver around the neck and strangled him. “I’ll kill you!” he screamed in the footage.

According to police, the driver and suspect got into a dispute over the destination prior to the incident. Afterward, the driver fled to a police box.

Yamaya, who lives near to where the incident took place, was later arrested on suspicion of assault. He admits to the allegations but said to police. “I was drunk, and I don’t remember [the incident].”

In the clip, the driver is seen not defending himself. He was quoted by Fuji News Network as saying that it is not in his nature to resist in such cases. “If I do, an injury could result,” he said.
