Ibaraki cops: Skeletal remains found in forest

IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a partially skeletal male corpse in a wooded area of Chikusei City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Apr. 26).

At around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, an elementary school boy found the remains of the man in a grove of trees Nakadate area and alerted a nearby resident.

According to the Chikusei Police Station, the person, whose estimated age is unknown, stood at between 160 and 165 centimeters in height. The body was clothed in a long-sleeve fleece jacket and black pants. He was wearing a wristwatch but no shoes.

Police, who suspect the man died at least several months ago, are seeking to identify the body and determine the cause of death.
