Train crashes into car left on railroad crossing in Gunma

GUNMA (TR) – A freight train crashed into a car that was abandoned on a railroad crossing in Takasaki City on Friday, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 22).

At around 11:10 a.m., the train, using the JR Takasaki Line, hit the vehicle in an area with low pedestrian traffic some 300 meters from Shinmachi Station. The train resumed operating about 20 minutes after the collision.

Police believe someone left the car on the crossing within a 10-minute timeframe since there was a separate train that passed through at around 11 a.m.
