Fukuoka cops: Gang of 3 robs man of ¥400 million in bank parking lot

FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police are hunting for three persons suspected in the robbery of nearly 400 million yen from a man outside a bank branch in a business district of Fukuoka City, reports NHK (Apr. 20).

At 12:30 p.m., members of the gang sprayed the victim, a 29-year-old company employee from Tokyo’s Adachi Ward, with tear gas in a parking lot in front of a branch of Mizuho Bank located in the Tenjin area of Chuo Ward before snatching 380 million yen in cash.

According to the victim, who was not injured, the suspects then fled the scene in a white station wagon.

Two of the suspects are male, each of whom stands up to 175 centimeters tall. Described as having a solid build, one suspect was dressed in gray work clothes and white breathing mask. The other male suspect was wearing black clothes. He had a white towel over his head. The third suspect, of unknown gender, drove the getaway car.

Just before the incident, the victim exited the bank branch carrying a suitcase with the cash inside.
