Tokyo cops nab man suspected in series of burglaries in Suginami

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a temporary worker who is suspected in a series of burglaries in Suginami Ward, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 4).

On February 5 at around 1:30 a.m., Kazuaki Abiru allegedly trespassed into a residence of a man, aged in his 50s, and stole a bag containing 600,000 yen in cash.

According to police, Abiru entered an unlocked door and committed the crime while the man slept.

Abiru admits to the allegations, telling police the crime “was necessary for living expenses.”

Police are investigating Abiru for suspected involvement in a total of 10 incidents that have taken place in the same general area since October.
