FUKUOKA (TR) – A 16-year-old girl stabbed her boyfriend with a knife in the town of Kanda, leaving him unconscious and in serious condition, police said on Thursday.

The first-year high school student was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after she stabbed her boyfriend in her apartment at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, reports TBS News (Mar. 2).

The suspect has admitted to the charges, police said, adding a bloody survival knife was recovered at the scene.

Her boyfriend remains unconscious and in critical condition after suffering a stab wound to the chest.

Police are questioning the teenage girl’s family and friends who were at her apartment during the alleged stabbing to determine her motives.

There could have been relationship trouble between the two, Nippon News Network (Mar. 1) quoted a police source as saying.
