At around 1:00 p.m. on February 22, a female passerby alerted police about “a man being stabbed by woman” on the balcony of a residence.
Officers arriving at the second-floor residence arrested Yumi Sugiyama, a hostess at a “snack” club, on charges of attempted murder. Hitoshi Ijizeki, a 39-year-old pig farmer, sustained injuries to the right side of his lower back in the attack, according to Fuji News Network (Feb. 22).
“I did not intend to kill him,” the suspect is quoted by police in denying the charges.
The suspect and victim are engaged in an extra-marital affair. Police are now investigating whether any trouble existed within their relationship.
