CHIBA (TR) – A 5-year-old girl with allergies went into anaphylactic shock after her mother forced her to drink milk in what police say was attempted murder, Nippon News Network reported on Tuesday (December 13).

Chiba Prefectural Police charged Chiharu Saku, 35, with attempted murder for forcing her daughter to drink milk knowing she had milk allergies in their residence in Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, at around 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Saku, who has admitted to the charges, was quoted by Sankei Sports as saying her “mental state was unstable” at the time.

Saku called police saying her daughter was “slumped over having allergic actions after she drank milk,” and was found administering first aid by responding ambulance medics.

The girl was rushed to a hospital, which suspected abuse and alerted police.

A doctor previously informed Saku that her daughter, who remains hospitalized, “can only be given a little bit of milk, even when trying to improve her allergies.”

Saku, who lives alone with her daughter, was visited four times by social service workers to discuss child rearing between April and August, authorities said.
