FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a boss of an organized crime group for allegedly stabbing his common-law wife to death in the town of Tachiarai after the couple engaged in a dispute, reports TV Asahi (Nov. 28).

At around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, Takayoshi Matsunaga, the boss of an affiliate gang of the Dojin-kai, allegedly used to knife to stab Megumi Takayama, 37, in the chest inside an apartment located in the Yamaguma area.

After the incident, Matsunaga telephoned emergency services. However, Takayama was later confirmed dead after arrival at a nearby hospital.

Police subsequently arrested Matsunaga on charges of murder. “After we got into a quarrel, I stabbed her in the breast one time with murderous intent,” the suspect was quoted by the Ogori Police Station in admitting the allegations, according to Jiji Press (Nov. 27).
