TOKYO (TR) – A female 67-year-old driver crashed into a shoe shop after mistaking the accelerator for the brake, police said on Friday.

No injuries were reported in the crash that occurred at around 3 p.m. in Ome City, Fuji News Network reports (November 25).

The woman told police she “was parking when I was caught off-guard by a tire hitting the parking block, so I mistook the accelerator for the brake.”

Police are investigating the details, believing the woman made a mistake while operating the car.

The woman does not show symptoms of dementia, police said.
