NARA (TR) – Police are searching for a male Vietnamese national after officers found a marijuana grow house while investigating a fire in Uda City, TBS News reported on Friday (November 18).

On October 24, officers of the Nara Prefectural Police entered a home after a fire broke out on the second floor when they stumbled upon a large haul of marijuana plants and grow lights. The fire burned around 120 square meters of space in the two-floor structure.

According to NHK (Nov. 17), the Vietnamese national, a resident of Osaka’s Ikuno Ward, purchased the house in September of last year. His whereabouts are currently unknown as he departed Japan following the fire.

A nearby neighbor said they “saw two men coming in and out [of the grow house]. The lights were on once every three nights.”
