OSAKA (TR) – Officers from a juvenile division of the Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a man for soliciting customers for a 14-year-old prostitute, one of whom was a member of law enforcement, reports Sankei Sports (Nov. 9).

In July, Ryuichi Umemoto, a 21-year-old resident of Otsu City, allegedly arranged for the girl, a middle school student, to provide sexual services to five male customers while knowing that she was a minor.

Among the customers was a 32-year-old head patrol officer from the Kishiwada Police Station. In September, the officer was suspended from duty for a six-month period as punishment for his involvement. However, he chose to resign from his post.

Umemoto met the girl through Twitter. He recruited customers by posting messages on internet bulletin boards.

Upon meeting the girl, Uemoto indicated that they would split the income she received from customers.

The matter came to light when the girl consulted with police to report that Uemoto was keeping most of the income.
