PAKISTAN (TR) – Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body likely that of a Japanese national inside a hotel in the Cantonment area of the city of Rawalpindi, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Nov. 16).

On Tuesday, a male corpse with a severe blow around the left eye was found in the bathroom of a room of the hotel.

Police suspect the body is that of Akira Ota, a 55-year-old resident of Japan’s Aichi Prefecture, after finding a passport in that name in the room.

Ota arrived in Pakistan on November 6, police said. He booked the room in the hotel through a business partner residing in the city of Lahore.

According to police, Ota and his partner were engaged in the sale of used vehicles. The business partner is now undergoing questioning in the matter.
