TOKUSHIMA (TR) – The Tokushima prefectural board of education on Thursday dismissed a male elementary school teacher after he requested a prostitute from a sex service during a field trip to Osaka, reports NHK (Nov. 11).

On the evening of October 27, a 28-year-old male teacher at the Takagawara Elementary School, located in the town of Ishii, ordered a female employee from a so-called “delivery health” service to his hotel.

A press conference was held on Thursday to apologize to the parents of the students.

“I regret it,” the teacher is quoted, according to Nippon News Network (Nov. 11). “I am sorry to the children and their parents.”

The matter came to light after the female employee contacted police to lodge a complaint about the teacher, who was questioned the next morning. Another teacher on the same excursion then noticed his absence from his hotel room, according to the Mainichi Broadcasting Service (Nov. 10).

The 58-year-old principal of the school received a warning for negligence in the incident.

“It is very regrettable that such an incident occurred among faculty and staff who are held to high ethical standards,” a representative of the board of education is quoted. “We will strive to prevent a recurrence.”
