Ibaraki cops hunt for man in attempted robbery of convenience store

IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police are seeking the whereabouts of a man who attempted to rob a convenience store in Mito City by threatening a cashier with a knife, reports TBS News (Nov. 7).

At around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, the man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, entered the store, located in the Jonan area, and thrust a knife in front of the male cashier. “This is a robbery,” the man said.

When the man attempted to grab cash from the register, the cashier closed it. The suspect then fled the scene empty-handed.

Standing between 165 centimeters and 170 centimeters in height, the suspect was attired in a gray work suit and white breathing mask.

Police are seeking the man’s whereabouts on suspicion of attempted robbery.
