Kumamoto cops issue video showing suspect in post office robbery

KUMAMOTO (TR) – Following the robbery of post office in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefectural Police are seeking assistance from the public in apprehending the male suspect wanted in the crime, reports Nippon News Network (Sept. 21).

Police released a video clip from a surveillance camera showing the man who thrust a knife before a male clerk at the post office, located in Chuo Ward, and stole more than 100,000 yen on July 3 at just before 4:30 p.m. The suspect then fled the scene on a bicycle.

There were no injuries in the incident.

The video shows the suspect wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and sunglasses. Standing approximately 165 centimeters in height and having a medium build, he is believed to be aged in his 50s or 60s.

As of noon on Wednesday, the man was still wanted in connection with the case.
