TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating the slashing of eight women inside a pool at an amusement park in Akirino City on Sunday, reports NHK (Aug. 22).

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a guard at Tokyo Summerland alerted emergency services about “a woman who had been slashed in her buttocks and was bleeding into a pool.”

According to police, the women, aged between 18 and 24, were transported to a nearby hospital. They all had suffered light wounds to the buttocks that appeared to be due to a razor-like object.

Tokyo Summerland includes a number of indoor and outdoor attractions. Approximately 10,000 persons visited the park on Sunday. The incident took place at a wave pool called Cobalt Beach.

Police are now examining security camera footage to locate any persons carrying suspicious objects into or out of the park.
