EHIME (TR) – A man of no fixed address was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing a woman by injecting a substance into her body.

Ehime Prefectural Police arrested Ryutaro Irimajiri, 53, who has no home or job, on suspicion of injury resulting in death by injecting a substance into a 21-year-old woman and causing death by acute drug poisoning or asphyxiation at around 3:30 a.m. on August 10, 2011, the Sankei Shimbun reports (July 13).

Jiji Press quoted police saying the manager of the woman’s workplace became concerned after she stopped showing up and visited her residence in Iwaidani, Matsuyama City. He opened her unlocked door and found her lying on the floor in a room.

Officers did not treat the case as an incident at the time since an autopsy suggested the possibility of death due to illness.

But police raided Irimajiri’s house last November over a separate blackmail case and discovered him in a video with the woman around the time she died, prompting them to launch an investigation.
