OSAKA (TR) – A high school teacher and former rugby trainer was arrested for stashing drugs in his apartment, the Asahi Shimbun reported on Tuesday (June 28).

Osaka Prefectural Police arrested Takatomo Imai, 49, a high school teacher and former rugby trainer at Tokaidai Sagami High School in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, on suspicion of violating the Stimulant Drugs Control Law for stashing a small amount of kakuseizai, or stimulant drugs, in his apartment residence in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Imai admitted to the charges, telling police he bought the drugs from a drug trafficker he met online.

“I was planning to use the drugs with an acquaintance,” Imai told police.

Imai allegedly hid the drugs this month in his Kanagawa apartment which he rented in addition to his primary residence.

Tokaidaisagami High School is known for its strength in rugby. The school’s official website said it appeared in eight national high school rugby tournaments.
