AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested an elementary school teacher who allegedly installed small cameras behind wall switches in order to take illicit images of female students, reports Nikkan Sports (June 25).

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Yosuke Asano, a 33-year-old teacher at Shimizu Elementary School in Kita Ward, allegedly entered a locker room and installed a camera behind a light switch in order to film girls as they changed clothes.

Asano, who has been charged with trespassing, admits to the charges. “I have an interest in nude girls,” the suspect is quoted by officers from the Kita Police Station, according to TV Asahi (June 25). “I started doing this three years ago.”

At around noon on Friday, a camera was found in a changing room after a swimming class.

An examination of the footage from a camera by a teacher showed the presence of Asano, who subsequently turned himself over to police.

Police found a total of five cameras, typically used for security purposes, concealed behind light switches and phone jacks.

“With this being an unforgivable act, we will deal with this matter strictly,” a member of the Nagoya Board of Education is quoted.
