TOKYO (TR) – A utility knife sitting on the floor near an intoxicated man’s bag caused quite a stir in a Tokyo subway station, NHK reported on Thursday (May 26).

Some 20 security officials responded to an emergency call by a worker at Kudanshita Station in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday saying that “someone is waving a cutter knife around” on a platform, only to come across a utility knife sitting on the floor near a snoozing, intoxicated man in his 20s.

No injuries were reported, according to officials.

Police said the man uses the utility knife for work, and did not confirm if he was waving it around.

The incident comes amid heightened security at Kudanshita Station over the G7 Summit in Ise-Shima which kicked off on Thursday.

Extra security personnel have been deployed around the station grounds over concerns the station could be a soft target.
