TOKYO (TR) – Two middle school students in Tokyo were rushed to the hospital after they showed signs of heatstroke amid record high temperatures, police said on Monday.

Authorities responded to an emergency call at around 12:45 p.m. on Monday reporting that two female middle school students, both 13, were showing signs of heat stroke at Magome Junior High School in Ota Ward, Tokyo, Fuji News Network reports (May 23).

The victims were conscious but unable to stand on their own when emergency responders arrived. An ambulance took the students to a hospital.

Four other students were also said to be in poor shape.

Temperatures in Ota Ward hit a record high 32.3 degrees Celsius on Monday.
