FUKUSHIMA (TR) – Fukushima Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 25-year-old man who had gone missing earlier this month was found in a forest in Koriyama City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 19).

On Wednesday morning, the body of Hiroki Okabe, a security guard from Koriyama, was found in a mountainous area of Osemachi Kozu. His head had received a serious wound.

According to Nippon News Network (May 19), the results of an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be a blow to the head. He is believed to have died two or three days before his body was found.

On the morning of May 15, Okabe told members of his family that he was going to the convenience store. He was not heard from after that. The following day, his family reported him missing with police.

Okabe’s vehicle was found parked about 10 meters from where his body was found. The car was unlocked.
