OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have discovered a corpse of an infant inside the residence of a man previously accused of assaulting his daughter, reports Nippon News Network (May 13).

On Thursday, police searched the residence of 44-year-old Kensho Shirato, located in the Katayamacho area of Suita City, and found the skeletal remains of a baby inside a garment case inside.

Police suspect that the baby died at least one year ago. During questioning by police, Shirato’s wife said, “The baby would not drink milk and died several days after birth.”

The search was conducted as a part of an investigation into an incident that took place in March, when Shirato allegedly pushed down his daughter, 16, and struck her in the head. The girl suffered a broken nose in the incident that required two weeks to heal.

Police are now investigating whether to apply charges of abandoning a corpse in the case.
