CHIBA (TR) – Police have arrested the former husband of a 29-year-old woman whose body was found inside her apartment in Kashiwa City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (April 12).

At 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, officers from the Kashiwa Police Station found the body of Ayaka Ishii lying face-up on a bed inside the home, located in the Toyoshiki area. The body did not exhibit any external wounds.

At the time of the discovery, the woman’s three children, aged 3, 5 and 7, were not present. Police subsequently found them at an Internet cafe in Ryugasaki City, Ibaraki Prefecture with her former husband, 29-year-old Kazuki Ishii.

After questioning, Kazuki was arrested for allegedly abandoning the corpse of his wife. The suspect has also admitted to killing his former wife. “I strangled her to death,” the suspect is quoted by police officers, who found a towel near Ayaka’s body.

Police suspect that Kazuki committed the crime on Tuesday morning. They were alerted to the residence after Ayaka’s mother was unable to contact her daughter that evening.
