TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 40-year-old male writer for radio programs for allegedly picking up underage prostitutes, reports NHK (April 27).

In October of last year, Takahiro  Kawashima paid a 17-year-old old girl 30,000 yen to perform illicit acts at his residence in Itabashi Ward.

Kawashima, who has been charged with violating child prostitution and pornography laws, admits to the allegations. “I have a fondness for young girls,” the suspect is quoted by police.

The suspect became acquainted with the girl via Twitter.

The matter came to light in January, when the guardian of the girl consulted with police after she failed to return home. After the girl was located, police checked her smartphone and found correspondence with the suspect.

Prior to writing for radio, Kawashima worked on television variety programs.
