TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 50-year-old man from Osaka who was found to be in possession of more than 50,000 images of child pornography, reports TBS News (April 11).
In January, Yoshiaki Miwa allegedly uploaded an image of a girl, believed to be between the ages of six and nine, in which the lower-half of her body was exposed to a bulletin board site.
Following his arrest, a search of a personal computer belonging to Miwa revealed approximately 54,000 images of nude children.
Miwa, who has been charged with uploading media considered obscene, told officers from the Takenotsuka Police Station that he obtained the images from the Internet. “I am a collector of child pornography,” he told police. “I like to boast after uploading images to a site.”
Police are now investigating Miwa for possible involvement in other crimes.
