TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested the 49-year-old girlfriend of a man who died after she allegedly stabbed him inside the residence they share in Toshima Ward, reports TBS News (April 8).

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Friday, Miyuki Noguchi telephoned emergency to report that she had stabbed her boyfriend, aged in his 40s, inside a room of their residence, located in the Ikebukuro-honcho area.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found the man collapsed in a pool of blood with a wound to his chest. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

A knife with a 20-centimeter-long blade was found in the room.

Noguchi, who has been charged with attempted murder, admits to the allegations. “Since he became violent, I stabbed him,” she is quoted by police.

The charges against Noguchi could be changed to murder, officers from the Ikebukuro Police Station said, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun (April 8).
