KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police are investigating a shooting at an office of an affiliate gang of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi organized crime group, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 30).

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report about several shots fired at the office of the Hokyo-kai, which is located in the Otsukanakamizo area of Yamashina Ward.

Officers arriving at the scene found four bullet holes the entrance door and a window of the office.

There were no reports of injuries in the incident.

A male neighbor of the office told the Mainichi Broadcasting System (Mar. 30) that he saw a vehicle leave the scene quickly after hearing the shots.

In September, the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi formed as a rival to the Yamaguchi-gumi. Since the middle of February, a turf war between the two gangs has escalated with an outbreak of multiple shootings, fire bombings and car-ramming incidents.

Police suspect that the shooting on Tuesday is a part of the ongoing conflict between the two gangs.
