TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested an organized crime member for the alleged extortion of a company employee, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 16).

In 2014, Tomohito Onishi, a 42-year-old member of an affiliate gang of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, is alleged to have extorted nine million yen from a debt guarantor at a company, who was 55 years old at the time, in Minato Ward.

Onishi, who has been charged with extortion, denies the charges, saying that consent for the payment had been given. Police arrested two other persons in the case.

According to police, the money had already been paid back to Onishi and the suspect was trying to receive double the agreed upon payment by threatening the victim.
