Nara cops: 3 found dead in suspected group suicide

NARA (TR) – Nara Prefectural Police are investigating a possible group suicide after the discovery of three corpses inside a vehicle in Nara City, reports Nippon News Network (Feb. 18).

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, a passerby notified police after discovering the bodies, that of one man and two women, inside a passenger vehicle parked in a rice field in the Tsukigase area.

Police confirmed all three persons dead at the scene. The clothing on the bodies was not disturbed.

With the discovery of a stove and burned charcoal briquettes inside the vehicle, police suspect that the three persons took their lives by carbon monoxide poisoning. As well, the windows of the vehicle had been taped shut from the inside.

Police are now working to identify the bodies.
