HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police have arrested two employees at a construction company for hiding the corpse of a colleague in Otaru City, reports NHK (Jan. 27).

Sometime earlier this month, president Tadahiro Sugawara and employee Hiromi Aikawa, both of whom are 56 years old, allegedly dumped the body of Shori Sato, 50, inside a storage room of the firm, located in the Shinko area.

Police found the body of Sato, which had been wrapped in a plastic sheet, on Tuesday after receiving an anonymous tip. The corpse had been severely beaten over its entire length.

Police believe Sato had died several weeks ago.

The suspects, who have been charged with abandoning a corpse, admit to the allegations.

Police are now seeking to apply murder charges to the suspects.
