HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police are investigating a robbery at the home of an 80-year-old former gang boss in Nishinomiya City, investigative sources revealed on Wednesday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 9).

Sometime between Saturday and Monday, a prowler entered the home by breaking a window and stole approximately 300 million yen in cash and precious metals from a safe and drawers. A wristwatch valued at 10 million yen was also taken.

On Monday, the victim returned home after two days away and found that the interior had been ransacked. The family of the former gang member subsequently reported the theft to the police.

Investigators are now viewing security camera footage in order to locate the perpetrator.

The victim once presided over an Osaka-based affiliate of the Yamaguchi-gumi. He has since retired from a life of crime.
