TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Saturday morning arrested a male employee of the capital’s metropolitan government for molesting a woman at a train station, reports TV Asahi (Nov. 30).

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Koichi Furuya,  a 28-year-old member in the construction bureau of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, allegedly fondled the buttocks of a woman in her 20s on the grounds of JR Mitaka Station at the Chuo Line.

The suspect, who has been charged with violating a public nuisance ordinance, said that he was returning home after a night of drinking. He also said that he does not recall the incident.

After the victim noticed the actions of Furuya, she screamed. A man near the scene then assisted in apprehending the suspect.
