SAGA (TR) – Saga Prefectural Police have arrested a 66-year-old male following the discovery of the bodies of a construction executive and his female associate at a surplus soil storage yard in Saga City in July, reports the Saga Shimbun (Sep. 3).

Police took Teruyoshi Oho, a former company president in the waste management industry, into custody for abandoning the bodies of Ra Jisan, a 70-year-old Korean national who heads several real estate and construction firms in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and 48-year-old Chie Matsushiro.

On July 25 and 26, police found the skeletal remains of the pair buried at the yard. In addition to the bodies, Matsushiro’s vehicle was also found buried at the site.

On August 15 of last year, the pair left word with acquaintances in Shimonoseki that they were headed to Saga in Matsushiro’s car to attend to debt-related matters. Neither was heard from again.

Police believe that the victims had encountered financial problems with the suspect, who has undergone questioning and had his office and residence searched.

Oho’s former company used the soil yard where the bodies were unearthed. According to police, the suspect had directed employees to dig the hole for the bodies of the victims prior to their arrival in Saga.
