TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Saturday evening arrested Yudai Hikichi, 25, for allegedly strangling his girlfriend to death inside the apartment they shared in Setagaya Ward, reports Nippon News Network (Feb. 15).

At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers from the Kitazawa Police Station entered the couple’s apartment in the Miyasaka area and found the body of Yumiko Yamaguchi, 24, lying atop a futon.

Hikichi, who has been charged with murder, has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “We got into a dispute, and I strangled her,” the suspect is quoted by police.

On Saturday afternoon, Kikichi consulted with police about the whereabouts of his girlfriend. After the suspect contradicted himself a number of times, police decided to visit the residence they shared.
