AV actresses Nanako Mori and Rika Matsuda crowned champions at ‘Mature Queen Contest’

TOKYO (TR) – The top prizes in the “Mature Queen Contest” were given to AV actresses Rika Matsuda and Nanako Mori on Thursday evening at the jam-packed Loft Plus One club in Tokyo’s Kabukicho entertainment district.

The pair was chosen from a field of nine adult video actresses, who routinely perform roles that require motherly or middle-aged portrayals.

Mori, 25, who specializes in adultery pics, said that she was delighted to meet her fans. “I will continue to appear in films that feature married women,” said the 25-year-old at the conclusion of the event, which is in its tenth incarnation. “In fact, I make my living by being a wife.” Read more

Gaijin shitamachi: Kinshicho a low-cost alternative to Kabukicho

The warmth of spring may have finally arrived but the chill of the wave of recession is still readily apparent throughout the metropolis. Yet Takarajima (May) finds the entertainment area of Kinshicho, located three train stops away from Akihabara on the Chuo Line in Tokyo’s Sumida Ward, to be surprisingly indifferent to these economic difficulties.

A visit one evening in March starts with a stroll down a street called Derby-dori, situated behind the Marui department store and outside the South Exit of the station building. After just a few meters, street touts in black suits quickly approach.

“How about for 4,000 yen? For three, it will be 10,000 yen.”

The club is named Eden of the World’s Beauties.

“It’s a Filipino pub. Lots of young girls are there. Russians, Romanians, Slovaks and Ukrainians, too. Hey shacho, are you interested? Wanna hang out with some young girls from South America?” Read more

Creative new commerce keeps Kabukicho hopping

“First it was Koma Stadium, which shut its doors last New Year’s Eve,” a local mutters. “Now it’s the Kabukicho McDonald’s outlet, which closed on Aug. 31. I think the place went under because it became a hangout for bar hostesses waiting for the trains to start running and homeless people, who just sat there nursing a cup of coffee.”

But, reports Shukan Shincho (Oct. 8), that doesn’t necessarily mean Tokyo’s largest adult entertainment zone has fallen victim to the recession. New businesses are springing up, appealing to consumers with super-low prices.

One such example is the Shateki Oh (King of the Marksmen) in Kabukicho 1-chome, which has been thriving since it opened last April. As the name implies, the shop is a quirky type of shooting gallery, similar to the tacky types often found in rural hot springs resorts. This one seems to be attracting sightseers on group tours to Tokyo. Read more

Tohoku red-light town looks to Tokyo’s Kabukicho for revival

Sendai’s Kokubuncho entertainment district is modeling an initiative for its rebirth upon the ongoing clean-up of Tokyo’s infamous Kabukicho area, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Sep. 29).

Hard-hit by Japan’s recession, various business and long-term building owners of the area, located in the city’s Aoba Ward, came together last month to form the “Kokubuncho Development Project.” The aim of the organization is to enhance the brand of the city — whose over 3,000 bars, restaurants and sex clubs have shared a style similar to that found in Tokyo’s Shimbashi and Ginza districts.

The first step was to come together as a group. Last month’s meeting consisted of approximately thirty men and women of varied ages, backgrounds and professions. Read more

Slapdash sanitation brings naked sushi shop to a sickening stop

The consumption of morsels of sushi from atop a naked female’s stomach is referred to as nyotaimori.

There’s been some skepticism as to whether such dining facilities actually exist in this day and age. Well, at least one did. According to Nikkan Gendai (May 23), it opened for business in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho entertainment district in June 1998, and immediately caused a stir.

Unfortunately a bit too much of the stirring took place in customers’ hiatal sphincters and lower bowels, as it seems such dauntless dining demands a cast-iron constitution. Read more
