Osaka cops: Corpse found in burned-out container

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a corpse inside a burned-out container on a vacant lot in the town of Nose, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Apr. 27).

At 6:40 a.m. on Thursday, a neighbor to the lot, located in the Ozato area, alerted emergency services about the outbreak of a fire inside the container. After a fire crew arriving at the scene extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes, a charred corpse was found inside.

According to the Toyono Police Station, the person, who is of unknown gender, was likely living inside the container, which is about 7.2 meters long.

Police are now seeking to identify the body.
