TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a man from Nagano Prefecture for allegedly paying for sex with a teenage girl at a hotel, an encounter he described as a “field trip,” reports TV Asahi (Apr. 26).

In November of 2015, Fumito Tokutake, a 37-year-old resident of the town of Yamanouchi, allegedly engaged in sex acts with the girl, who was 15 at the time, at a hotel in Arakawa Ward while knowing she was underage.

According to police, the suspect became acquainted with the girl via Twitter three years ago. Prior to the encounter with the girl at the hotel, the suspect paid 60,000 yen by bank transfer to her account.

Tokutake, who has been charged with violating the child prostitution law, partially denies the charges. “I committed obscene acts [with her], but the money was a field trip fee,” the suspect is quoted by the Nishi Arai Police Station.

The matter surfaced after the girl’s mother consulted with police.
