CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have confirmed that the body of a girl found in Abiko City belongs to a Vietnamese girl who went missing last week, reports Nippon News Network (Mar. 26).

At around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, a man, who had arrived to fish in the Tone River, found the nude body of the girl in grass near a canal in the Kitashinden area. Police arriving at the scene confirmed her dead.

Police have identified her as Le Thi Nhat Linh, a third-year elementary school student from Matsudo City. She has been missing since Friday, when she failed to arrive at school.

The location of the discovery is about 12 kilometers from Le’s residence. There were marks around her neck to indicate that she had been strangled, police said.

Police have not found clothes or personal items in the area around the canal.

According to the network, police are following up on an eyewitness report in which Le was seen at a park about three kilometers with several other people between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the day she disappeared.

Police are investigating the case as murder and abandoning a corpse.
