GIFU (TR) – Gifu Prefectural Police have arrested a man in the killing of his wife and mother-in-law at their home in Ogaki City.

At around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Satoru Giriyama, 39, called police to report that he had killed his wife, 35-year-old Yayoi, and mother-in-law, Machiko Kodama, 63, at their home, Jiji Press reports (Mar. 24).

Officers from the Ogaki Police Station arriving at the residence found Kodama lying face-up on the floor of a room covered in a blanket. Giriyama told police he killed her by repeatedly beating her head with an oil fan heater.

Police have charged Giriyama with murder in the killing of Kodama.

Yayoi was found dead on a bed in the same room with signs indicating she had been strangled, Nippon News Network reported (Mar. 24). She was also covered with a blanket.

Giriyama married Yayoi in early February, police said. She lived with her mother while the suspect, who lives in a different part of the city, came and went.
