On September 14 at aroud 12:40 a.m., Rio Arai, 35, allegedly approached the woman, 32, from behind and embraced her as she commuted home through the park. “Give me your underwear,” he demanded before pushing the victim down and attempting to strip her of the undergarment. However, he fled the scene empty-handed after she started to scream.
Arai has been charged with attempted robbery. “I wanted to touch the body of a woman who turned men on,” the suspect is quoted by the Komatsugawa Police Station. “But I don’t remember trying to steal her underwear.”
Arai emerged as a person of interest after police examined security camera footage taken at a nearby railway station.
