TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are seeking the help of the public in locating a man suspected of swindling an elderly woman by posing as an employee from department store chain Isetan, reports Fuji News Network (Mar. 22).

In October, the suspect used credit cards belonging to the woman, aged in her 80s, to fraudulently withdraw 1.5 million yen from a convenience store ATM in Toshima Ward.

In obtaining the credit cards from the victim, the suspect posed as an employee of Isetan and told the victim over the phone that her “cards were being used [by someone else], and it is necessary for you to suspend them.” He then arrived at her residence to collect seven cards.

An image released by police shows him wearing a dark parka and pants and glasses. He is believed to be aged in his 20s.

Persons with information on the case are advised to call the Sugamo Police Station at 03-3910-0110.
