FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a 61-year-old woman in the killing of her mentally disabled daughter in Kitakyushu City, reports TBS News (Mar. 21).

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Keiko Kino, allegedly strangled her daughter, 36-year-old Chiaki, inside the residence they shared in Yahatanishi Ward.

After committing the alleged crime, Kino telephoned police to report that she had “murdered my daughter.” Police arriving at the scene found Chiaki collapsed in a room of the residence. She was confirmed dead at the scene.

“My daughter suffered from a severe mental disability, and I was troubled in serving as her nurse,” the suspect is quoted by police in admitting to the allegations.
