Aichi cops: Man intentionally plows car into crowd possibly due to dispute

AICHI (TR) – Police have arrested a male company employee for intentionally driving into a group of men in Shinshiro City, possibly due to a feud with the one of the victims, police said on Sunday.

Aichi Prefectural Police arrested Takumi Ito, 21, for suddenly accelerating into the group of five men, aged in their 20s and 30s, on a street near his home at around 9 p.m. on Saturday, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 19).

All five victims suffered minor injuries.

Ito, who has been charged with attempted murder, admits to the charges, the Shinshiro Police Station said, adding he was acquainted with at least one of the five men.

According to the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 19), Ito fled the scene after the incident. The suspect turned himself over to police on Sunday.
