TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 69-year-old man who posed as a deliveryman in gaining access to the residence of an elderly woman in Suginami Ward in order to the rob her, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 15).
In October, Shoichi Onuma falsely claimed to be a takyubin deliveryman in getting the woman, aged in her 80s, to open her front door. He then pushed his way inside, knocking her over, and bound her limbs. “Show me the money,” he demanded while dragging her around the inside before robbing her of 570,000 yen.
The woman was also allegedly beaten over the length of her body by the suspect.
Onuma, who has been charged with robbery resulting in injury and trespassing, admits to the allegations.
Police believe that the suspect and victim are acquaintances since they go to the same hospital, according to Nippon News Network (Mar. 15).
