TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are searching for a man accused of groping a woman who fled by jumping onto railway tracks at JR Ikebukuro Station in Toshima Ward, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 14).

At around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the man fondled the lower body of the woman, aged in her 20s, inside a carriage of the Saikyo Line. Upon the train’s arrival at Ikebukuro Station, the woman told the man to go with her to see station personnel. However, he pushed her in the shoulder and leaped from the platform onto the tracks.

The woman suffered a grazed right knee in the incident.

Police are now seeking the whereabouts of the man, who was last seen heading towards Otsuka Station along the railway tracks. Believed to be aged in his 40s, the suspect was dressed entirely in black.

According to JR East, the incident caused delays in both directions on the Yamanote and Saikyo lines, inconveniencing about 32,000 passengers.
