TOKYO (TR) – A man was arrested for trying to using a fake bill he printed at home at an internet cafe in Machida City, police said on Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police Department arrested Yuki Arakawa, 25, for allegedly printing four 10,000-yen bills and using one at the cafe in August 2016, reports TV Asahi (March 7).

Arakawa has admitted to the charges, telling police he “did it because I was struggling to make ends meet.”

Arakawa used the counterfeit note to pay a bill of around 2,000 yen when he visited the cafe with two colleagues.

A male clerk alerted police about 30 minutes later after he became suspicious while inspecting the cash register, saying there was a “customer using a counterfeit bill.”
