Aichi cops: Golfer finds male corpse in Nagoya river

AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a male corpse in a river in Nagoya, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Dec. 11).

At around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, a male golfer tipped off emergency services about a corpse in the Shonai River.

Police later found the body, later confirmed to be that of Shinsuke Kodama, 57, floating face-up on the surface of the river about 1.5 kilometers west of the Shinkawanaka Bridge. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

Using articles found with the body, police confirmed his identity. Kodama lives alone at a residence in Kita Ward.

Police are treating the case as the result of an accident or the result of foul play.
